Work has resumed in Eenigenburg. Building permits have been granted, the old shed has been demolished, a new foundation poured, fundraising for Phase II is in the works, and a grand opening in 2005 is anticipated.
A first-rate documentation center is being built
with 3 sections to showcase:
THE HISTORY –
Life work of village historian, W. K. van Schoneveld, about the history of
the region and the village of Eenigenburg and surrounding area
THE VOYAGE – Details of
the tragedy-filled voyage to the new world aboard the Massachusetts of Boston
– including a gorgeous, hand-crafted replica of the ship from the original
drawings and information on all the passengers in the party
THE FAMILY – Story of
the early pioneers who settled Roseland (Illinois) and the Eenigenburg Family
in America today
